Statistical bulletins

During the development of draft guidelines, the Council examines a range of data sources and produces statistical bulletins setting out information on current sentencing practice for related offences, including:

• the number of offenders sentenced for the offences
• the sentence outcomes imposed, including average custodial sentence lengths, and
• breakdowns by age, sex and ethnicity.

The bulletins are published alongside our guideline consultations. The related data tables are updated when we publish definitive guidelines.

We also use this statistical information to support the Council in fulfilling our public sector equality duty.
