Animal cruelty: Response to consultation
A summary of the responses received to the consultation paper on animal cruelty offences.
Between May and August 2022 the Council consulted on two draft guidelines:
The two draft guidelines reflected increased maximum sentences introduced by the Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Act 2021, brought up to date the Council’s existing animal cruelty guideline and replaced the interim guidance issued in 2021 in light of the increased maximum sentences.
