Sentencing guidelines for terrorism offences have come into force today in courts in England and Wales. The guidelines, which were published in March, have been introduced to deal with the changing nature of terrorist offending and to ensure that courts have the guidance they need to deal with these serious and difficult cases, punishing offenders and disrupting their activities.
