Publication of an assessment of the 2017 update to the Magistrates’ Court Sentencing Guidelines

The Sentencing Council has published an assessment of the impact and implementation of the 2017 update to the Magistrates’ Court Sentencing Guidelines (MCSG). The updated guidelines, which cover 27 offences, replaced the previous guidelines produced by the Sentencing Guidelines Council in 2008. The assessment report considers 19 offences from the updated guidelines. These include offences covered in the guideline resource assessment published in 2017, and other higher volume offences.
